Mathematician
Mathematician
I am a Ph.D. Candidate in the University of Illinois at Chicago Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science.
My research interests lie broadly in the fields of combinatorics and theoretical computer science. Specifically these days I'm interested in tropical combinatorics and computational biology
My current office hours and teaching schedule can be found on my department profile

I am president for Symbols of Inclusion at UIC, an organization focused on diversity and equity in mathematics. I have been serving since 2024.
I am an organizer for SUBgroups, a program designed for first year math grad students to connect with one another to share successes and struggles. I have been serving since June 2023
I am co-organizing the 2026 edition of the Graduate Student Combinatorics Conference that will be hosted
at UIC.
I am a graduate mentor for the Directed Reading Program at UIC, Mentoring the following students:
Bill Shepelak | Fall 2025 | Quantum Search Algorithms
Juan Rosendo | Spring 2024 | Models of Random Graphs
Bill Shepelak | Fall 2024 | Wanna solve Hilbert’s Tenth? Think again
I was co-organizer for the Computer Science Theory seminar at UIC for the 2024-2025 academic year
I was an instructor for the Young Scholars Program at UIC, a free summer math camp for high schoolers in
the Chicago area in Summer 2024.
I was co-president for the Mathematics Graduate Student Association at UIC for the 2023-2024 academic
year.
I served in leadership for Belmont University’s joint chapter of the Mathematical Association of America
and the Association for Computing Machinery from March 2015 – May 2018.
I have completed the Inclusive Education Scholars Certificate program in Fall of 2025.
These UIC instructors completed the Inclusive Education Scholars Certificate Program (IESCP), which entailed participation in a combination of CATE teaching workshops and several learning community sessions accompanying a set of eLearning modules on inclusive pedagogy topics.
I am also recognized as a Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning (CIRTL) Associate.
The Associate level certificate recognizes the role of the CIRTL core ideas in effective teaching and learning as demonstrated through completing core coursework or programming.
I am very grateful to have received
MOCIPAM 2026 Travel Grant Program Used to suport travel to IPAM (Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics), an NSF-funded national mathematical research institute located at the University of California, Los Angeles, for their program on Mathematics of Cancer in February 2026.
UIC Graduate College Student Presenter Award (2025 Recipient) UIC Graduate college offers funding to eligible graduate students to help to defray costs associated with presenting original research or scholarly work at a meeting or conference.
MCA 2025 Travel Grant Program MCA 2025 Travel Grant selection was based on applicants' eligibility for the program, their research record, the potential impact of the MCA on their professional development, and need.
UIC Kathy Hill Cawthon Memorial Award (2024 Recipient) The Kathy Hill Cawthon Award is given annually to an outstanding undergraduate or graduate student in the MSCS Department.
